More that just finding a destination : Leading lines

Imagine looking at a picture, and your eyes are drawn to a particular object. You were unconsciously taken into a journey and when you’ve realized it, you have reached the destination without knowing how.

If you have been in that situation, then you might have been guided by “leading lines”.

What are leading lines ? Leading lines are lines that appear in the photograph which have been positioned by the photographer to direct the viewers’ attention to a particular point in the picture. Example of leading lines are road, river, wall or tree.

Can you guess where the leading lines are in this picture ? You eyes are instantly drawn to Yubin. That’s right, the lines are the curves of the tree itself with all lines are position to point at the main object.
