Hexadic color ? What’s that ? And what does it have to do with this eye-catching picture of Jili ? We’ve learned about complementary colors in the previous chapter, which is the use of opposite color on the color wheel to create a captivating effects on the picture. In this chapter, we’re diving into one of the hardest color scheme to use; Hextadic color or a combination of 3 pairs of complementary color. Hexadic color refers to a color scheme made up of 6 colors. It came up in a shape of hexagon, which is a 6 sided polygon where all the sides are of equal length. By applying hexagon on the color wheel, it can create a hextadic color scheme and the colors have the equal distance apart on the wheel. The colors pairs that are used on this picture are presented as below.

Remember what the complementary colors did you eyes ? It stimulated low-frequency cones and high-frequency cones at the same time. It creates a strong contrast and makes that image ‘pleasant’.
