If you're up to date on the Asian drama world, or spend some time on Twitter's fandoms, chances are high that you've heard about The Untamed. The Chinese series was a national success and took over the world after being made available on YouTube (with English subtitles) and on international, Netflix. It’s estimated that the story of soulmates who deal with the intrigues in a supernatural land has been watched about 7 billion times in 2019 alone! After the end of the series, the cast that participated in a series had shows/fanmeetings around Asia and brought crowds to it. The success was so great that some of the actors in the cast embarked on a new challenge and launched the boygroup The Untamed Boys, or T.U.B.S. The group consists of Yu Bin (Wen Ning), Cao Yuchen (Jin Zi Xuan), Ji Li (Nie Huaisang) and Li Bowen (Song Lan). Zheng Fanxing (Lan Sizhui) and Song Jiyang (Xiao Xingchen) left the group during the long recess imposed by the global pandemic.

In January, T.U.B.S released their first EP-LOVE: ONE-ACT, in which they sing about different sides of love and KoreaIN had the opportunity to chat with members and find out about their plans, hobbies and opinions about the global success of The Untamed.

KIN: First of all, congratulations on your debut with the EP “LOVE: ONE-ACT”! What are your feelings about this new phase of your career?

Yu Bin: I started my career as a singer.

I feel like I'm doing what I'm supposed to do.

Cao Yuchen: It's all very new. It’s definitely a new experience, to find all of you with a new identity, as singers.

Jili: To be honest, I don't feel very confident as a singer, because my technical skills are not that advanced, but since I set out to do that, I intend to do my best so that both you and myself feel satisfied with the results.

Li Bowen: Thank you all for listening to our new album. I’m very happy to be venturing into something new.

KIN: Who are some of the veteran singers that you’re inspired by? Could you recommend some of them to your international fans?

Yubin: Jay Chou.

Caoyuchen: Since my taste in music is very eclectic, I don't have a particular

style. But Jay Chou and Wang Leehom are singers that I’d like to recommend

and see you listening to.

Jili: Jay Chou

Li Bowen: Jay Chou, JJ Lin, Eason Chan. I think these are some artists that are well worth getting to know.

KIN: All of you are involved in different endeavors, such as acting, music and fashion. Where do you get inspiration and motivation from?

Yu Bin: I believe that art comes from everywhere in our daily life.

Cao Yuchen: If we talk about acting, for example, since this is my specialty, this is my job. It’s something I studied for four years, it is a profession. Music is a hobby, something I'm interested in. So, as a singer, my biggest inspiration is to be in the studio recording. That moment when I feel the music, I think it's the best feeling to have.

Ji Li: Part of our motivation comes from the satisfaction of seeing our work being appreciated. The other comes from the characters that I play, and that allow me to have so many people enjoying my work, which gives me a lot of support and courage.

Li Bowen: I believe that being really interested in something is what gives us motivation the most.

KIN: When you received the role in The Untamed, did you imagine that the series would become so big not only in China, but around the world? When did you realize that people from such distant countries became fans and started to pursue their careers and how did they feel about it?

Yu Bin: I didn’t hope that the series would be so popular abroad. I did not

realize it until our team told us.I was so flattered and it grew in me, a huge

desire, to be able to travel and meet all of you.

Cao Yuchen: I also didn't expect The Untamed to become so popular abroad.

I felt very flattered and grateful to have so many people abroad giving us affection and attention.

Ji Li: I was young and I had never filmed a drama before, so I had absolutely zero expectation to see something like this happen. It was during our fanmeeting in Thailand that I realized that so many people in other countries had enjoyed the drama. I am really very grateful and happy for all. Li Bowen: I didn't expect people in other countries to like our drama but of course I was very happy to receive that attention and it is also a form of motivation to keep me going.

KIN: Is there anything you like to do in your spare time that could be a surprise for fans?

Yu Bin: I like to play the detective game.

Cao Yuchen: Our work area is kind of unique. As an actor, when you’re working, there is zero chance of rest, on the other hand, when you are on a break, there is no need to work. It's pretty extreme, so when I have a break, I like to rest and relax. After finishing the recordings for a drama, I usually lock myself up at home and sleep for several days and gradually start to leave the den to meet friends, play basketball, go to karaoke, eat and drink.

Ji Li: I like to eat well, I eat a lot.

Li Bowen: I like to build Legos and draw.

KIN: Is there anything in particular that you would like to challenge yourself in the future?

Yu Bin: I would like to face the challenge of opening a public company

.

Cao Yuchen: I want to do anything and everything I'm interested in.

Ji Li: I want to try to rap.

Li Bowen: Maybe something like learning to ride a motorcycle.KIN: Brazilian fans are very dedicated and always show affection for you through memes, fanarts, and also promoting The Untamed Boys on social networks. Would you like to leave a message for them?

Yu Bin: Thank you, Brazilian fans! I can really feel your passion. Thank you for your kindness and support !!! I hope to be able to meet you in Brazil.

Cao Yuchen: Thank you for liking us, Brazilian fans. I hope to be able to find them as soon as possible. I also like Brazil a lot, I want to visit Rio and go for a walk, to feel the Brazilian culture up close. See you soon.

Ji Li: Thank you so much for liking us. I hope you take care of yourself and also take care of your friends and family. I hope you stay healthy and see you in Brazil!

Li Bowen: I hope you find out more and make more memes. Good luck! Retrieved from: https://revistakoreain.com.br/2021/03/entrevista-t-u-b-s-fala-sobre-sucesso-de-the-untamed-e-amor-dos-brasileiros/
